arrived in London...tired

Check in at Philly airport was a breeze.  But, then after boarding, we sat on the runway for an hour before taking off.

We had a smooth, comfortable flight.  The food was good and we got to watch two movies.  We got seats in an exit row, so we had plenty of room.  Neither of us slept, though.  And, although the pilot made for lost time in the air, our landing was delayed by a half-hour and then, after landing, we had to wait another 20 minutes before deboarding because someone got sick and they had to bring in paramedics.  So, our flight still took about an hour longer than expected.

Getting through customs was uneventful.  Sarah commented that it was a lot faster when she returned to BWI from Tampa last fall.  I explained why.

We changed some money into the British play money with all the different colored bills and the coins with weird shapes.  They seems to accept it just like real money, so I guess we'll be ok.  And my credit card works here, which is how I bought an Oyster card--that is a discount travel card for subways, buses and trains.

We took a wrong turn on the subway and went one station out of our way, but still got to our hotel by 9:15.  The lady let us check in early and we were both asleep by 9:00.  We woke up around 4 pm and decided to start our day.

We walked through the neighborhood and found a public library about 5 min from our hotel.  It's now 5:30, we're checking email, and then we will find out what to do tonight.

More later.
